Setup Wordpress Hosting with Page.ly in 3 Easy Steps

BY Editweapon @ October 6, 2009

I do all my secure web hosting with Firehost. That means sites that take credit cards, have customer databases, etc.  Firehost RULES at this.

But then there’s all those “random idea” sites.  I don’t need the full scale bells-and-whistles hosting I get from Firehost.  And I definitely don’t want to deal with ANY complexity.

I want to think of the idea, buy the domain name, get a Wordpress template up, get an email address, and off I’m running.

My requirements for my new wordpress web host are:

  1. VERY simple to launch (the site AND the email account)
  2. VERY simple to maintain (1 click upgrades to the latest version)
  3. VERY simple to move away from if I didn’t like em.
  4. (Oh yeah, and VERY inexpensive.)

As the saying goes, keep it simple stupid!

Enter Page.ly, a relatively new wordpress hosting company from Tempe, AZ putting a SIMPLE spin on wordpress (and email) hosting.

Page.ly’s Setup Wizard

step 1 select a wp theme-2

step 2 select domain-1

step 3 payment information-1

step 4 processing-1

step 5 setup complete-1

Now that was SIMPLE!!

I love it.  Couldn’t have been any easier.  Now I’m just waiting for the Nameserver changes to propagate so I can login and get going.  Since I’m familiar with WordPress, that should be a breeze.

Big :) on my face so far.

(But if I don’t like it, there’s no longterm contract so I’m only risking $15. Perfect!)

The thing that I appreciate about Page.ly is their focus on WordPress. Wordpress is just a CMS, like the hundreds of other CMSes out there. But it has a good brand name and loyal following. And so if non-tech John Smith gets it into his head that he needs a Wordpress blog, Page.ly makes it VERY easy and VERY affordable to get it all up and running.

But that’s just my two cents. If you’re a non-techy and you don’t need a blog, but instead need more of a “billboard” site, consider Weebly. I’ve become a really, REALLY big fan of Weebly.
